Astroboy Movie (2009)

astroboyad_500

If you still haven’t heard about it, the Hollywood film for Astroboy is coming out October 2009. Notable stars that lent their voice are Nicolas Cage and Kristen Bell. Anyone else remembers this little robot from childhood? I did. I used to watch this regularly as a kid. I liked it too for some reason. Seeing how they made the film makes me sad. Instead of the Japanese Anime/Manga like approach, it looks like a Toy Story movie.

Sadly, its not my taste. I feel awful about what they did to an otherwise promising franchise.  What about you? What do you think?

Hmm…. thinking back, there are some nice cartoons I watch as a kid that I hope they make into movies. Thundercats, Visionaries, Dino Riders.. bah, I’m gonna stop now. My age is showing. =)

Heart Attack Grill

What would you say to a burger joint that is upfront and honest that it serves nothing good but everything is delicious? An 8,000 calorie burger with lard-ridden fries served by sexy nurses. Hmmm…. Given my recent foray into healthier living, I’d probably pass. Then again, it definitely is worth a look.

A Grade for Cheaters

FDBritish Columbia Simon Fraser University introduced a new grade that is worse than F—the FD. It means “Failure with Dishonesty”. Its given to students who are caught cheating. As a grade that will show up in transcripts where potential employers will see. It lets students reconsider the implications of cheating.  The new scheme which is yet to be implemented will be given to repeat offenders and will stay on the student’s record for two years after graduation.

I think this is a good idea. It would not take alot for an academic institution to implement and the effects it could have in preventing cheating is amazing. While some may think that it can be indeed harsh, but what about the the other students that have studied hard?

It would also certainly help employers evaluate candidates better and give the school more reputability. I think adapting this would have long term benefits to the University, students, and the employers.

McDonald’s Website for Black People

McDonald’s feel that the African-American culture should be celebrated 365 days a year. Hence the idea behind 365black.com

They apparently also have a site for ASIANS.

Cultural diversity or racism? You decide. Discuss in comments. What do you think?
